Doug Evans might have IH as his blood type. He grew up around International tractors, and when his dad worked for the dealership in Estherville it became his favorite spot to hangout. When he heard about this 1971 IH 1456 with Wheatland Front Wheel Assist, he knew it needed to find a permanent home in rural Terril, Iowa. When the tractor arrived, Doug quickly realized that the previous owners had overhauled it incorrectly, so another complete overhaul was an order. As with any of his restoration projects, Doug did his best to make the tractor as close to original as possible.

Doug’s 1456 has nearly every option that was offered at the time, and is equipped with heavy-duty axle bearings and an IH quick hitch. When he initially bought the tractor, it was fenderless and had a cab, but Doug removed the cab and installed fenders. It’s one of his favorites, mostly because of its sleek appearance and strong stance. “I just like the looks of it… it’s cool to look at!”

This IH 1456 was featured in the 2021 edition of MaxYield’s tractor calendar.
